*Praise your child when they do well. If your child does not do as well as you would expect them to, discuss how or what they need to improve upon. *Each day, ask your child one thing they did that they are proud of *Point out to your child people who put forth a lot of effort such as a good waitress at a restaurant or salesperson in a store.
*Help your child to understand that it is not important to be the best or always win, but giving everything "our best shoe' is what counts.

*If your child does something such as a chore or homework in which you feel they have not done their best work, help them to recognize the mistakes, and have them make the necessary corrections.
